The Narcotics Cell deals with (1) Narcotic Drugs Prohibition NDPS Act, 1985 and (2) Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989 ( both of the above in co-ordination with the Deptt. of Excise, Police and Health & Family Welfare )

Functions of Narcotic cell :

1. Co-ordinating between The Narcotics Control Bureau, Govt. of India and the enforcing agencies in the state regarding Enforcement of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985

The Narcotics Cell, Home Department functions as the directive authority within the state of Nagaland in all matters relating to enforcement of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the NLTP Act, 1989. It functions as an agent of the Narcotics Control Bureau, New Delhi and directs the enforcing agencies within the state viz. the Deparment of Excise, Police and Health & Family Welfare Department. The Narcotics Cell also accepts monthly reports of drugs seizures, drug offense cases in prescribed format from the enforcing departments and submits the same to NCB, New Delhi. Proposals for grants from the enforcing departments in relation to strengthening the initiative against drug trafficking, liquor bootlegging and drug abuse are also assessed and forwarded to NCB, New Delhi for consideration
